State Civil Service Rules

Any period of time on active military duty or in another position in the same municipality shall not be counted in computing the four year period of eligibility. 2 Medical Reports Section 15.

When it is found that a permanent and material change has been made in the duties and responsibilities of the position, the Civil Service Department will assign a title most appropriately describing the new duties of the position.

Filings in electronic format will be accepted in lieu of any paper copies otherwise required under these rules. Jurisdictional Classification - the assignment of positions in the classified service to the competitive, non-competitive, exempt or labor classes. 2 All reinstatements to positions under a different appointing authority will require a twelve week probation period. Any motions to quash a subpoena must be filed with the Commission and opposing party no later than five 5 business days prior to the same date of scheduled hearing. The layoff of a temporary, provisional, contingent permanent or probationary employee by virtue of position abolition or displacement does not constitute a basis to bump pursuant to Section 80 of the State Civil service rules Service Law or these Rules.

Classification Plan The Civil Service Departmentsubject to the approval of the County Personnel Officershall prepare and Civil service rules a list of titles and specifications for all positions in the classified service and allocate all positions to an appropriate title. Classified Service means all offices and positions in the civil service of Los Angeles County except those in the Unclassified Service as enumerated in Section 33 of the County Charter.
